With iPad, pilots can now fly paperless

Less Baggage in Cockpits as IPAD finds new niche

Pilots are set to drop bulky flight bags in favor of iPads, loaded with aviation apps.
What is in those bulky, black flight bags that pilots carry into the cockpit? It is not a change of clothes but reams of reference material needed for the flight — about 40 pounds of it.
There are the aircraft’s operating manual, safety checklists, logbooks for entering airplane performance data, navigation charts, weather information, airport diagrams and maybe a book of KenKen puzzles thrown in for good measure.
Its good news that Pilots dont have to look into number of books for instructions and finding solutions to some problems, an IPAD can easily be operated to do so. An IPAD can also be automatically updated and has 250 supported aviation apps. An IPAD reduced 40 pounds of baggage to 1.5 pounds of IPAD which is more reliable. It will become new experience for pilots and they will enjoy it.
